honey, soy, garlic and ginger marinade for chicken
Chicken marinated in a mix of honey and soy with a few extras tastes great especially when grilled on the barbecue. Whether it be chicken thighs, wings or breasts this honey soy marinade works a treat. Throw in some chopped chilli if you like the heat. If possible, marinate the chicken overnight.
ingredients
- 4 spring onions
- 90g thick soy sauce (kecap manis). For a gluten free option use Tamari soy sauce.
- 80g honey
- 2cm ginger
- 4 sprigs thyme leaves
- optional 1 red chilli
- optional 3 cloves of garlic
directions
- Chop the spring onions, garlic (finely) and optional chilli, grate ginger and combine all ingredients in a pot.
- Heat while continuously stirring until the honey has melted.
- Let cool prior to pouring over chicken thighs or wings.
- Marinate for at least 3 hours. For best results marinate overnight.
Thermomix directions
- Place all ingredients into TM bowl and blitz for 10 seconds, speed 7.
- Heat at 70 degrees, 2 minutes, speed 3.
- Let cool prior to pouring over chicken thighs or wings. Marinade for at least 3 hours. For best results marinate overnight.
